Why is archery popular today in the U.S.?

Today archery is very popular in the U.S. among children especially girls because of The Hunger Game. Katniss, the heroine of The Hunger Games, is good at a bow and arrow because she hunts animals to make a living for her family. When she goes to the game, she uses a bow and arrow in the battle and her strategy. She is strong and intelligent. For these reasons, many girls respect and want to be like her. Archery is a symbol of Katniss so that children start to do that. There will be hold the London Olympics this might be one of the reason. Actually their father bought archery items. Why not their moms? One of the reasons that archery is sport so dads are easily interested in that and this is a good opportunity for dads to spend time with their daughter. Dads take their daughters to trips or package of The Hunger Games where they can experience The Hunger Games world such as survival. As a result, children can have chance to do archery.

Opinion of The Hunger Games movie

I have watched the movie The Hunger Games in my English class. I had heard this movie is similar to a Japanese movie which name is The Battle Royale and very famous in Japan so I was so excited to watch The Hunger Games. Then I noticed that I like the book more than the movie because the movie has PG-13 it means all people like children can’t watch the movie. However the book can be read by everyone and can describe more details. But actually I could enjoy the movie too. I love to watch movies. I have some memorable scenes. First, the scene of Katniss hunting. The beginning of movie Katiss go to hunt in the forest alone. Then she finds a deer and tries to hunt it with a bow and arrow but she doesn’t because Gale interrupts her. I felt Katniss and Gale are really good friend and hunting partner it was a very smile-provoking scene. Second, Katniss dress. When I read the book I thought Katniss was enveloped in fire but in the movie she looks like have fire on her back. I believed she dresses more gaudily dress and I wanted to see a spark which is made by Katniss on the interview. Finally, before watching the movie I didn’t like Foxface, but finished watching the movie I start to like her.  When the game begin she bumps Katniss then she menaces Foxface. I felt her scared face is so real. Beside that if I were in the game, I would do the same thing like Foxface so I empathized with her.

Spring Break

This spring break, I didn’t have a big trip but I could relax. I always woke up in the afternoon and went to Sparks to run or exercise. I played flying disk and soccer with my friends. I ran a lot! I enjoyed that for the first time in a long time. I had hard muscular pain the next day. I couldn’t move at all. I went to Woodburn where is a big outlet shopping mall with the same friend which played soccer together with me. We used a taxi and it cost about $100 to get there and back. It was very expensive! We shared the fare. I bought some t-shirts, shoes and bag.  Actually I couldn’t enjoy it so much because there were no size clothes which suited me.  Everything was too big for me! That’s why I couldn’t buy enough even if I liked it. We went to some restaurants, Adam and Ram, it was great I like Adam’s lemonade and I refilled three times! I lost my iPhone during the way of Ram. I noticed that the day of midnight so I went to look for it in the dark but I couldn’t find it. The next day, I called campus safety and he said they found my iPhone. I was very happy! After that I heard that someone Japanese brought my phone and took it to campus safety. I have to say thank you to him.

Pow Wow

On March 10, 2012, I went to Pow Wow twice at 1:00 and at 6:00 held in Willamette University at sparks. Pow wows are the Native American people’s way of meeting to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old and making new friendships.

When Pow Wow starts there were three people, who were wearing bells in their legs and eagle feathers, which were designed eagle tales with their back, had something to smoke and participants, who lined up in a circle, were pouring the smoke over their body with their hands. I think pouring the smoke means receiving spiritual power or cleansing the body. The traditional dancers who men were wearing unique eagle costume and bells their legs like the first three people and women were wearing the dress ornamented with many jingles or the large colorful clothes looked like birds. There had common step called eagle step and different dance depend on the costume. The dancer wearing eagle costume danced eagle dance which looked like eagle, wearing jingles dress stepped sunnily  to ring the jingles, which sounds like running water, and wearing large clothes spread their cloth like wings. They were dancing with traditional Indian music which played with a drum and voice for some people.  They were a perfect match for each other. All of these were mixed, I felt some little afraid and big impression. Look at this picture. I ate Fry Bread, which was topped with butter and jam, was very sweet and good.
And he was a one of traditional dancers. He was wearing eagle costume also he was very funny.
